THE DEVELOPING COUNTRY NGO DELEGATION
The Board is the supreme governing body of The Global Fund. The Developing Country NGO Delegation has one voting seat on the Board.
The Delegation aims to contribute to and influence The Global Fund policies and practices in an effort to make them continually and appropriately responsive to the needs of those affected by HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and the Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) and Faith Based Organisations (FBOs), providing necessary services to them.
The defining feature of this delegation is its ability to bring relevant perspectives as implementers and representatives from recipient countries — based on the knowledge and experience of NGOs, CBOs, FBOs and their constituents.
THE GLOBAL FUND
The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria mobilizes and invests nearly US$4 billion a year to support programs run by local experts in countries and communities most- in-need. As a partnership between governments, civil society, the private sector and people affected by the diseases, The Global Fund is accelerating the end of AIDS, TB and malaria as epidemics.
The Fund operates with three core principles: partnership, country ownership and performance-based funding. All partners need to take part in decision-making. People actually implementing grants know the best way to fight disease in their country, and come up with the most effective solutions. Funding should be provided where it can achieve the best results. By challenging barriers and embracing innovative approaches, we strive for maximum impact.
